Sterling Silver cuff with Australian Boulder Opal! Cuff is made from 10 gauge sterling wire that I formed and hammered with line accents. Insane Australian Boulder Opal hand cut by my friend and artist David Forshee in Newberg, Oregon. Very special and rare stone! Really cool purple/ultraviolet flash in some lighting!
Care: Opals overall are a sensitive and porous stone. While Boulder Opals are more robust compared to Ethiopian opals, being 5.5-6.5 MOHS , they still require care to ensure they stay beautiful. Boulder Opals are sensitive to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and physical shock. They can crack or dehydrate from sudden temperature changes and are susceptible to scratches from everyday bumps. Avoid harsh cleaners and chemicals, and store them gently in a soft cloth or jewelry box. While solid boulder opals (This is solid!) are not as prone to absorbing water as some other types, it's still best to avoid prolonged immersion and soaps, so taking off while showering would help keep her beautiful. I always say, wear your gorgeous opal at your own risk. But if you are to buy any kind of opal, a boulder opal is the one!
Sizing notes: The total circumference length of this cuff is 6.5 inches, 5.25” cuff, 1.25” opening. Fits a size small to medium wrist. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and it fits me comfortably. Cuff sizing is a personal preference. I do make the opening larger to make it easy to take on and off. You can synch and shape a cuff to your wrist if needed, making it smaller. BUT keep in mind the more you bend it, the more you are “work hardening” the crystals in the metal alloy, making it more brittle and stressing it to break/snap. This only happens if you are opening it way too much, which is a sizing issue. Please let me know if the cuff isn’t fitting right and we can do an exchange or I can make one similar in your size! Exchanges accepted within the 2 week window.
To find wrist size, use a string and wrap it loosely around your wrist, make sure it’s not too tight. Then lay string out with a ruler, that should roughly give you your overall circumference.
Cuff Circumference Sizing Chart:
XS: 5.5-6.1
Small/Medium: 6.2-6.9
Large/XL: 7-8
